Download iCloud for Windows and enable iCloud on your iPhone or iPad. When you take a picture on your iPhone or iPad it automatically syncs to the My Pictures folder in your Documents folder. This happens very quickly.

From the Windows desktop double click My Computer, from the Address dropdown at the top select “My Documents”, and scroll down to the “My Picturess” folder. Double click on this folder to find your iPhone pictures.

Open SquawkLog and go to the appropriate tab for the aircraft, squawk, maintenance, or AD item. Hit the “Images/Docs” button. This opens up another Windows folder.

Drag your iPhone/iPad pictures to the open SquawkLog folder and they will always be available for reference. They get backed up too.

You can take pictures of problems you find, aircraft parts, receipts, documentation, anything that helps you keep track of your airplane’s maintenance.

Take a picture of your airplane with your iPhone, double click on the SquawkLog logo to the right of the airplane grid on the aircraft tab, navigate to the My Documents/My Pictures folder, and select that picture. A picture of your airplane will now appear on all reports and on the aircraft tab when you select that airplane.

Welcome

This is going to be an exciting release. We’re finishing up the user manual and doing final testing. Hopefully we’ve developed a product that saves time and allows owners to keep better track of their airplanes. We’ve come up with several innovative ideas and will be talking about them here.

VHMs

One of the most interesting features is the Virtual Hour Meter concept. This allows you to create a virtual hour meter for any component on your airplane. As you update the master hours for the aircraft all of the VHMs update in sync. Maintenance items can be attached to these VHMs. The maintenance items can be set to come due based on accumulated hours or calendar days. VHMs can also track total time since new (TTSN) for as many components as you can think of.

Maintenance Items

Maintenance items can come due based on VHMs or calendar days. Maintenance items can be repeating, such as changing oil, updating electronics, or even annual maintenance. Maintenance items can be recurring every so many hours or days or both. The maintenance item tab features graphical gauges for a quick glance at the status of tracked items.

Dashboard

Some maintenance items and VHMs are graphically tracked together on the dashboard. The dashboard is a quick way to get a big picture look at significant status items for your airplane.

Pictures and Documentation

SquawkLog helps you keep all of your airplane’s records, important documentation, and pictures in one place. These are standard Windows folders on your hard disk so there is no special software needed to create or access any of these files. SquawkLog helps you organize these folders in a simple and easy to understand scheme.

Squawks

A squawk is a quick way to keep track of things that need attention. Squawks are easy to enter and also provide an easy method to create maintenance items related to that squawk.

Aircraft Data

When creating a record for a new aircraft there are many shortcuts that allow you to quickly create VHMs and maintenance items for common tracking needs such as oil change, annual maintenance schedule, and time since new (TTSN) and time since major overhaul (SMOH).

Flight Log

The flight log is a quick way to document how hours are accumulated. Flight log entries update the airplane’s master hour meter and all VHMs and maintenance items that are set to automatic. Conversly, adding hours directly to your airplane’s master hour meter can automatically create flight log entries. Flight log entries also have the ability to track fuel, oil, and other costs associated with flight operations.
